The Danish Crime Prevention Council

The Danish Crime Prevention Council works to reduce crime in society.

The council consists of relevant authorities and organisations working together to prevent crime and to increase the safety of citizens.

We contribute to the public and political agenda with information based on knowledge and research about crime statistics and prevention.

DKR and EUCPN

EUCPN is a crime prevention network within the EU.

The network was established in 2001 and aims to connect actors at the local, national, and European levels, sharing knowledge on research and practice in the field.

The network brings together stakeholders around topics identified as important by the member states, builds research-based knowledge and disseminates this knowledge. The network also develops campaigns.

From July 1st- 2025 - January 1st 2026, the Danish Crime Prevention Council has the Presidency of the EUCPN on behalf of Denmark.

On the EUCPN website, you can find more information as well as:

  • Systematic Reviews – the effectiveness of crime prevention initiatives
  • Descriptions of EU-funded prevention projects
  • Toolboxes – crime prevention toolkits for local practitioners.

ECPA

Once a year, the European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA) is awarded to the best crime prevention project in Europe within a theme chosen by the current EUCPN presidency. The ECPA promotes the exchange of best practices and highlights achievements in crime prevention throughout Europe.

In 2025, the Danish Presidency of the EUCPN will focus on the prevention of online fraud targeting citizens.
